Introducing...Grant Maling
Schools Spectacular 2011 is going to be the best yet! Go behind the scenes for an all-access pass into Grant Maling’s experience!
Hip Hop performer Grant Maling has been dancing to Michael Jackson since he could barely walk and still manages to fit in some moves while he’s getting ready for school. He began professional classes at the age of 7 and comments that his most memorable experience was appearing on ABC performing with an Aboriginal dance crew this year. He’s also scored roles in theatre productions including Grease and High School Musical where he also acted. Having his own radio station, a traineeship at Channel 9 and four years’ involvement with Schools Spectacular under his belt, can you believe he’s only 16?!
The aspiring television presenter hopes to study communications and journalism at uni, and is already completing a certificate III in Screen Media at TAFE: ‘I love dance though, it’s my forte. I’d love to combine it with whatever I do –having my own music TV show would be cool!’
He’s very passionate about the experience Schools Spectacular has given him: ‘Everyone says Schools Spec is a lot of hard work, and it is. But it’s also great fun!’ He says he’s made so many new friends and absorbed the electric atmosphere of such a great production. This year he will be performing as part of the Aboriginal dance ensemble and he promises it will be huge!
